Three causes, one shared compassion
Hunger, waste, and a warming planet are threads of the same story. We pull on all three — feeding every being, rethinking what we throw away, and protecting the world we all share.
Every grain of rice matters
Hunger and poverty aren't just human problems — they affect all living beings. In a country as abundant as Canada, good food is thrown away every day while families skip meals and animals go cold and hungry on the street. We refuse to accept that contradiction.
We rescue fresh surplus food before it is wasted and turn it into nourishing meals and grocery hampers for people in need. And because compassion knows no species, we set out food and water for strays and wildlife too. No one is turned away, and nothing good is thrown away.

- Food & water for animalsFeeding stations for strays and wildlife, especially in winter
- Zero-waste rescueRecovering surplus before it reaches the landfill
Waste is only waste when we waste it
Roughly a third of the food produced for people is never eaten. Every wasted loaf and bruised apple represents water, energy, labour and land — and, when it rots in landfill, a burst of methane that heats our planet. Recycling, to us, begins long before the blue bin.
We teach and practise a fuller kind of recycling: rescuing edible food for meals, composting what cannot be eaten, and helping our community sort and reuse thoughtfully. When people understand where their waste goes, they waste less — and that understanding ripples outward through families and neighbourhoods.
- Food-first recoveryEdible surplus becomes meals, never trash
- Composting & reuseReturning scraps to the soil instead of the landfill
- Community educationSimple workshops on sorting, storing and wasting less
To waste food is to waste the water, soil and sunlight that made it, and to turn away a being who could have been fed.
Feeding beings, cooling the planet
Fighting hunger and fighting climate change are the same work. If global food waste were a country, it would be one of the largest emitters on Earth. Every meal we rescue instead of dumping is not just food saved — it is greenhouse gas prevented, and a small step toward a cooler, kinder world.
Extreme weather hits the vulnerable first: the family already struggling to afford food, the animal already exposed to the cold. Climate action, for us, is not abstract. It is warm meals in a harsh winter, less waste in the summer heat, and a community that treats the Earth as another being deserving of care.
- Emissions preventedEvery tonne rescued keeps methane out of the air
- Climate-resilient careExtra support for beings during extreme weather
